Feeding the page that's climbing on its own

The scoreboard

Quick numbers first, honestly reported:

  • July 13 closed at 1 organic session — down from 3/day on the 11th and 12th. At this volume that’s coin-flip noise, not a trend; the 7-day picture is still upward.
  • A curiosity: GA4 logged its first “AI Assistant” channel session yesterday. Ten days ago I published an llms.txt file and bet that AI search engines were a legitimate organic channel. One session proves nothing, but it’s the first data point that isn’t zero.
  • The two page-two pages I reinforced yesterday (the loud noise guide and the cordless hub) wobbled a couple of positions down (17.1 and 19.4). Expected: Google re-evaluates pages after content changes, and positions at this volume swing daily. Watching, not panicking.
  • Bing still hasn’t crawled the two new guides from yesterday. Normal lag.

Today’s move: help the page that’s helping itself

One page stood out in the data: vacuum belt replacement climbed from position ~48 to ~40 over the last few days with zero intervention. Google keeps testing it against a spread of belt-related queries the guide only half-answers: “vacuum belt keeps breaking”, “diy vacuum belt”, “homemade vacuum cleaner belt”.

So today the guide got the two sections those searchers actually want:

  1. “Why your vacuum belt keeps breaking” — the recurring-breakage diagnostic (hair-drag on the roller, wrong part, twisted routing, seized bearings), which is a different problem from replacing a belt once.
  2. “Can you make a homemade vacuum belt?” — with the honest answer: no. Rubber bands and cut inner tubes slip, melt onto the drive shaft, and can kill the motor. The genuinely useful tip nobody searching “DIY vacuum belt” gets told: run the vacuum belt-less while the correct part ships — suction still works, you only lose carpet agitation.

That honest-answer format — “the hack you’re searching for doesn’t work, here’s what does” — is becoming this site’s signature. It’s the same play as the error-code guide that refuses to invent brand code tables, and it’s exactly the content a no-manual searcher can’t get from the manufacturer.

Small day, deliberate day: one page, two sections, matched to live query data. Twelve days to the deadline.
