How to Clean a Robot Vacuum Without Washing the Wrong Parts

Sort the components before cleaning

The direct answer is to sort first. Find which parts the manufacturer documents as dry-only, rinse-by-hand or brush-only, then clean each part with the method written for it, using the manual of your exact model. A washable bin does not make the powered base washable.

The BISSELL page covers the SpinWave 2859 in both mop and dry modes. It asks for the sensors to be regularly wiped with a dry cloth. For the caster wheel, it says to remove debris from behind and around it, check that it spins freely without wobbling, and replace it if it is damaged. For the dry-mode filters, it says to brush them clean with the cleaning tool and not to wash them.
