The short answer
As a precaution, match the leak location to your model. The Tineco iFloor 3 and iFloor 2 pages cover the filter and the dirty-tank area. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max page covers the dirty tank, the brush window and the lower hose. The eufy WetVac W31 article covers excess foam and a wet filter. The Roborock Dyad WD1S1A manual covers keeping the vacuum upright and placing it on the charging dock after use. Each section below lists the checks its source describes, and the table links every row to that source. As a precaution, use the section that matches the exact model name on your machine, since each source covers only the models it names.
Identify where the water is coming from
As a precaution, note where the water appears before you open or dry anything: around the dirty water tank, at the foot or brush window, or under the dock or storage spot. Record the model number, whether the water shows up during cleaning or while the machine is standing, and whether you see foam, and photograph the wet area before drying it so you can compare the location later.
As a precaution, turn the machine off before removing parts, and unplug the dock or adapter only if your hands, the plug and the outlet are dry. As a precaution, stop using or charging the machine if water reaches electrical components, avoid touching wet electrical connections, and contact the manufacturer; do not open the motor housing.
If the machine leaves water on the floor along its cleaning path, use the pickup guide. If no water reaches the floor, use the spraying guide. For a self-clean cycle that will not start or finish, see the self-cleaning guide. Other symptoms are listed in the troubleshooting hub.
What changes by model
Each row covers only the model named in its source.
| Model | Leak check the source describes | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Tineco iFloor 3 | Confirm the dry filter is installed properly. If water leaks at the dirty water tank, dry the dry filter, the tank surround and the tank installation spot. | Tineco iFloor 3 leaking water |
| Tineco iFloor 2 | Confirm the pre-filter is installed properly. Dry the pre-filter, the tank surround and the tank installation spot. | Tineco iFloor 2 leaking water |
| BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max (2554, 2590, 2596, 2593) | Empty the dirty tank and inspect it for cracks and leaks, check the brush window and lower hose, then hold the spray trigger for 10-15 seconds to test. | BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max leak page |
| eufy WetVac W31 | Too much cleaning solution can cause excessive foam bubbles. A filter that is not completely dry before cleaning starts can make the dirty tank leak. | eufy WetVac W31 leak article |
| Roborock Dyad WD1S1A | Keep the vacuum upright, not flat, to prevent dirty water from leaking out. Place it on the charging dock after use to prevent water stains. | Roborock Dyad WD1S1A user manual |
Tineco
The iFloor 3 page asks whether the dry filter is installed properly. If water leaks at the dirty water tank, which the page abbreviates as DWT, it asks you to dry the dry filter, the DWT surround and the spot where the DWT installs. It also asks whether a little water comes from the motor air outlet under the DWT. Its general warning says that, unless prompted, you should not press the trigger when checking any part of the machine.
The iFloor 2 page names the pre-filter rather than the dry filter. Its checks cover pre-filter installation, drying the pre-filter, the DWT surround and the installation spot, and the motor air outlet under the DWT. The same trigger warning appears on this page.
BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max
The BISSELL leak page covers models 2554, 2590, 2596 and 2593. It lists four checks for leaks from the dirty tank or foot. It asks you to remove and empty the dirty water tank, inspect it for cracks and leaks, and put it back until it clicks into place. It asks you to pull up the brush window tab, examine the window for cracks, and rotate the window down until it clicks. It asks you to check the lower hose for damage. The last check is to turn the machine on, hold the spray trigger for 10-15 seconds and test for leaks.
BISSELL’s dirty water tank maintenance sheet adds two points. It says “Tank should not be loose and there should be no gaps” once the tank is installed, and “Filter should be completely dry before reassembling.” As a precaution, stop before the trigger test if the tank, brush window or lower hose is cracked or damaged.
eufy WetVac W31
The eufy article covers a leak from the dirty water tank of the WetVac W31. It names two causes: adding too much cleaning solution, which can result in excessive foam bubbles, and a filter that is not completely dry before cleaning starts, which can cause the dirty water tank to leak. Its dose is two bottle caps of cleaning solution per full tank of clean water, at a dilution ratio of 1:40 to 1:50. The article asks you to make sure the filter is completely dry before using the vacuum, or to replace it with the extra dry sponge filter in the package.
Roborock Dyad WD1S1A
The Dyad WD1S1A manual gives a handling rule to prevent dirty-water spills. Under “Starting the Vacuum”, it says: “To prevent dirty water from leaking out, keep the vacuum upright. Do not lay it flat.” Its notes add: “Always place the vacuum on the charging dock after use to prevent water stains.” When emptying the dirty tank, the manual says to pour out the dirty water, empty the filter cartridge, reinstall it, put the cover back on, and tilt the dirty tank upwards to lock it in place.
Check the result without changing several things at once
As a precaution, change one thing at a time, use the section for your exact model, compare the result with the location you recorded, and note any change in leak location before repeating a procedure. Keep foam overflow, water around a tank opening, and water left along the cleaning path as separate observations, since the guides for those symptoms cover different problems.
For the CrossWave Cordless Max, complete the inspection and refitting checks before the spray-trigger test, because the BISSELL page lists the trigger test as its final step. The Tineco pages ask you not to press the trigger during checks unless prompted, so the BISSELL trigger test is not a step for a Tineco machine. As a precaution, use the Tineco page for those models.
When to contact the manufacturer
As a precaution, stop testing and contact the manufacturer if the leak continues after the checks for your model. Give the model number, where the water appears, whether foam is present, whether the leak happens during use or while the machine is stored, which checks you completed, and whether the leak changed afterward.
The eufy article directs readers to its support team if the problem continues.
Questions readers ask
Should I dry the filter before using the machine again? On the eufy WetVac W31, the article asks you to make sure the filter is completely dry before using the vacuum, or to replace it with the extra dry sponge filter in the package. The Tineco iFloor 3 page says to keep the dry filter and DWT surround dry; the iFloor 2 page gives that instruction for the pre-filter and DWT surround.
Can extra cleaning solution cause a leak? The eufy article says that adding too much cleaning solution could result in excessive foam bubbles, and it links the filter and foam conditions to a dirty tank leak. Use the dilution the article gives: two bottle caps per full tank, at 1:40 to 1:50.
Should I keep the vacuum upright or flat after use? The Roborock Dyad WD1S1A manual says to keep the vacuum upright, not flat, to prevent dirty water from leaking out, and to place it on the charging dock after use to prevent water stains. As a precaution, apply this storage guidance only to the Roborock Dyad WD1S1A.
